Greece “Live bovine animals” Imports in 2024

Live bovine animals

**Greek Imports of Live Bovine Animals Surge in Q2**

**Rise in Demand Drives Increased Imports Ahead of Summer Slaughter Season**

* Greek imports of live bovine animals reached 22,500 head in June, a 12% increase from the same period last year.
* The majority of these imports came from Romania, with 15,000 head arriving in Greece during the month.
* Prices for live cattle have remained steady in recent weeks, averaging around €1,200 per head.

Greek livestock farmers are benefiting from rising demand for high-quality beef ahead of the summer slaughter season. As a result, imports of live bovine animals have increased to meet this demand. While prices remain stable, Greek farmers are looking to capitalize on the strong market trends by increasing their supplies. With Romania remaining Greece’s primary supplier, trade between the two countries is expected to continue its upward trajectory in the coming months.
