Greece Sees Slight Increase in Wheat Imports for Q2

Greek Economy Continues to Show Signs of Recovery, Boosting Agricultural Imports

• Greek imports of wheat bran and pellets rose by 3.5% year-over-year in the second quarter.
• The increase is attributed to a surge in demand from local bakeries and food manufacturers.
• Prices of imported wheat bran remained stable at €190 per tonne, despite global market fluctuations.

Greece’s recovering economy has driven up imports of processed cereal grains like wheat bran and pellets. As consumer spending increases, demand for these products has grown, particularly among the country’s bakery and food manufacturing sectors. This trend is expected to continue in the third quarter, with analysts forecasting a further 2% rise in imports. Seasonal factors, such as the start of the summer baking season, are also contributing to the increase.
