**Greece Sees Surge in Gypsum Imports Amid Construction Boom**
**Increased demand drives imports, offsetting higher prices**
• Greek gypsum imports rose 12% year-on-year to 200,000 tonnes in June.
• The increase is largely attributed to a 15% surge in construction activity nationwide, driven by government stimulus packages and private sector investment.
• Average import price per tonne increased to $120 due to supply chain disruptions from European producers.
Greece’s gypsum imports have continued their upward trend as the country’s construction sector remains resilient. A combination of government incentives and strong demand for housing and infrastructure projects has fueled growth, despite higher prices resulting from supply chain bottlenecks affecting major European suppliers. The uptick in imports is expected to persist through the remainder of 2023.
