Greece “Reclaimed Rubber” Imports in 2024

Reclaimed Rubber

**Greece Sees Surge in Imported Reclaimed Rubber Supplies**

**Market demand for recycled rubber drives imports growth in H1 2024**

• Greece’s reclaimed rubber imports rose by 12.5% year-on-year to 22,500 metric tons in the first six months of 2024.
• The increase is attributed to a growing demand for eco-friendly products and rising production costs for new rubber, making recycled alternatives more competitive.
• Prices of imported reclaimed rubber averaged $1,800 per ton, up 7.5% from the same period last year due to supply chain disruptions.

The surge in imports comes as Greece’s automotive sector continues to grow, driving demand for high-quality rubber products. Additionally, rising energy costs have increased the appeal of recycled materials, which require less processing and energy consumption. As a result, suppliers are shifting their focus towards reclaimed rubber exports, leading to an uptick in Greek imports from countries like China and Indonesia.
