**Greek Import Market Sees Surge in Fruit and Seed Deliveries**
**Strong demand boosts imports in the first half of 2024**
• Greek importers brought in $143 million worth of plant products in Q2, up 12% from Q1.
• The majority of these imports came from European Union countries, accounting for 85% of total shipments.
• Key suppliers included Spain, Italy, and Portugal, with Spain alone contributing to 40% of Greek import demand.
Greek importers continued to benefit from strong demand in the first half of 2024, driven by a rebound in consumer spending. The increase in plant product imports reflects a seasonal peak in fruit and seed demand ahead of summer harvests. Rising prices for certain products, including citrus fruits, may have also contributed to the surge in imports as Greek suppliers sought to meet domestic market requirements.
